I think I will eventually finish this but I was listening to it as an audiobook and the beginning was too much for me.
When his young kitten is hit by a car, the only present he got for his birthday where none of his classmates showed up. It is replaced by a mean and feral tom cat who also goes missing quickly I couldn't handle it. Animal deaths effect me far more so than humans death.
