The Madness of Crowds by Louise Penny
3.5
i had a really hard time getting into this one. the beginning felt slow and the hania daoud arc felt super random throughout the book. eventually, as the mystery was beginning to unravel, i began to feel that same excitement i do during a louise penny denouement.
for all the talk of the impact of abigail robbinson’s research on society in the beginning of the book, it was virtually unaddressed toward the end. i thought this was a missed opportunity: having glimpses of the news picking up her work and people getting more and more on board with it would have heightened the tensions through the slow middle of the book.
i also wasn’t 100% sure exactly what the solution was to the case, and why certain characters did certain things leading up to the murder.
