There aren't many YA books about women in sports and even fewer about Latinx women in sports. This book is good not so much because of the writingf but because it's a story rooted in truth--not that it is autobiographical but it is rooted in the author's lived experience. It's a story about a talented female futbol/soccer player growing up in a world that doesn't value women. And specifically set in Argentina, where there is a culture of machismo, and a history of femicide and an obsession with futbol. She has a choice to make between a boy who she loves and the future she wants and it's not an easy decision. This book moved me.
