This is a nonfiction book about nature through the lens of an Indigenous Anishinabe botanist/plant specialist. I thought it would be dry and too technical, but was blown away by how personal and relatable the story was. I appreciated the balance of Indigenous traditions with modern practices. This really should be required reading in high school science classes across the country. Excellent book.
I’m not sure how to label this trigger warning, but possibly a trigger warning for talk of genocide against Native Americans and continued wrong doings toward them by the government.
