This is my favourite Feist thus far possibly because it features a kick-ass, small female in a male-dominated world.

Mara, daughter of one of the oldest families of Kelewan, is torn from her chosen vocation in service to the goddess Lashima, when her father and brother are murdered on the battlefield by another scheming Lord of Kelewan. She finds herself thrown neck deep into the intricacies of political intrigue and has to use all her wits, wiles and cunning to not only survive but avenge her family's honour.

Boy does she do this and with such righteous panache! I'm going to enjoy her continuing plot line!
