A Marvellous Light by Freya Marske
5.0
This was what I used my September credit for on Audible and I am very happy with my decision!
I think Freya Marske is quickly becoming a favourite author of mine. This is only the second book of hers that I've read, but I'm obsessed with the way she writes. Her characters are so lovable!
I really enjoyed Robin and Edwin as MCs. I think they're both wonderfully written and their backstories were so well thought out. The narrator did a great job of distinguishing between the two of them as well. The pacing of their relationship is also spot on!
I'm not sure why, but I always feel like spice in fantasy/historical books hits different and this one definitely didn't disappoint! The emotional connection and physical attraction between Edwin and Robin was portrayed so well in the intimate scenes.
There's also a lot of interesting and fun side characters. Maude, Jack and Miss Morris were some of my absolute favourites! I'm excited to continue the series to find out more about them all.
I think the pacing of the whole book is great, I love the way that this book is a beautiful adventure in itself but also a set up for more of the big plot.
