The Stranger by Albert Camus
3.0
I've never been one to enjoy or even fathom the idea of reading philosophy. I read this as part of a book club and almost forced myself to pick it up and power through.
It started out pretty slow, and the main character's indifference and boredom were pretty easy to identify with.
However, soon, this was dialed up to a thousand, and I could not identify with him, his nihilism, his total lack of emotion, and the coolness he seemed to inadvertently project to others interacting with him.
The book's second part was more... blatantly philosophical and directly mentioned viewpoints and gave food for thought. I somehow found myself enjoying it. I concede that it put forth some interesting views on life, the universe and everything.
