3.5 ⭐ This started off strong, then kind of dragged, then got better at the very end. Overall not as exciting as you would expect from a heist novel. The writing was good. I liked the historical setting and the magic system, just wish they had more pizzazz.

It was interesting to learn in the author's note that the protagonist is based on an actual historical figure.
