This was a book I was dying to get to read! Definitely one of my most anticipated reads for the year and for good reason. Lately I've been on such a slump when it comes to rom-com's. They all blur together at some point; same tropes, same character types, same plots...etc. But Raiders of the Lost Heart?? Yeaaaaah, this was like a refreshing glass of cool water after trekking through a hot ass desert. This book was so good! It was so different from anything I've ever read before (in this genre, ofc).
I love that the story gets straight to the point! The reader isn't burdened with instant info dump galore at the beginning. Instead, we meet our FMC Corrie as she's propositioned for the opportunity of a lifetime. I really admired this character- she's feisty and smart and incredibly adept to the career she chose. I love how independent and headstrong she was as well! And then we have Ford; not going to lie, it took a while for me to warm up to him. It seemed like this couldn't be a love story if he was so hellbent on professionally (and personally) screwing over Corrie. But I kept my mind open and when the full extent of the truth was revealed, I did eventually come to like Ford. I'm glad his reasons were legit and completely relatable! He was definitely such a chicken compared to Corrie in terms of adventure, LOL. But that duality made the story so refreshing and interesting to read.
What I absolutely NEED to know is: will there be a book two??? Are we to expect a blooming series about this couple and their various adventurous escapades across the world? If so, count me IN! I need more after that epilogue!!
