The Shadows has just continued my obsession with Ward's characterization and world-building. I've never really been a huge urban fantasy fan but this shit is addictive. This one made me ugly cry, ngl. Are the names ridiculous and the alpha male tropes predictable? Yes. But she weaves it all together with her sharp intelligence and deep empathy that has me itching for the next one.
