this is my favorite by the author so far.
and funnily enough because of how much deeper she went into the darker parts of the academic worlds in this -and she apologizes for in the author notes at the end.
those moments for me made this story stand out from the others and made it so real and beautiful in many ways as it is horrifically sad to that those things still happen today.
this book has the same wit and snark, the same quick humor i enjoyed in all of her books.
and just as in all of her books share the two main characters the typical physical attributes this author clearly likes: small tiny girl, big build guy.
i personally don’t mind those things since i don’t think there has ever been an author that didn’t write any kind of similarity into their multiple books in some ways.
i also enjoy that the sex takes a while and especially in this story it made a lot it sense for it to not be the second thing that’s happened.
i really enjoyed the characters and their dynamics in this, i loved Elise and Cece, i really enjoyed the Smith bothers and the grandmother got a bit of a grin out of me so that’s always fun.
but seeing fantastic friendships and sibling relationships? always something i enjoy!
Elise as a character herself was someone i just enjoyed reading about. i am not even sure why that is -maybe some similarities that i do NOT want to think about that i share with her?- but i just enjoyed following Elise along.
I liked how the romance build up and how it ended worked for me as well.
all in all i clearly enjoyed this a lot!
i do think this author clearly had a specific writing area and she sticks to that and if you don’t like that? look her books won’t be fore you as long as she sticks in that particular area.
but if you are like me and enjoy her books and what she does and how she does it and don’t mind similarities between stories? i would highly recommend this!
