- Flaws of characters a main focus? Yes
I expected this to be more of a fantasy and less of a romance.
I generally like fantasy romance, but that just wasn't what I was looking to read when I picked this up. Which is one of the reasons it took me so long to get through.
This is a fairly short book, and as far as I can tell it's a standalone novel, but ultimately, there wasn't a whole lot about this book that felt original to me. There were a lot of tropes that I feel are a little overused at this point.
The setting was the most interesting part. I would love to read more fantasy set in India, but maybe an Adult-Fantasy instead of a YA Fantasy. I think I've just aged out of the sub-genre.
