This book centers around Max , Maggie’s brother from Sem who was a glaring homophobic and bullied his  brother for being gay . So when i found out Cora was a doing a redemption arc series for these brothers i thought nah. No way. Maybe this is when i give up on Cora. But like the Cora raccoon i was (i would literally eat  read anything she writes) i decided to read this and know how she would pull it off. Look i hated Maggie’s brothers  so much. I swore i would not forgive them  or see them redeemed in my eyes.

Well guys, i am currently painting my clown face while writing this because it took one chapter and he was instantly forgiven. Only Cora . Look i tried (if you know me you know i can hold a grudge towards characters) so when i tell you that it took nothing from me for him to be forgiven i mean it. 

Max was so beautifully open minded and NEVER let hos preconceived notions hold him back even when he had opinions. He started doing “gay research “ to understand his brother because Maggie cut him out of his life permanently. He proved himself beyond words, worthy of redemption. He never fell back ok his old ways even when I expected hom to. I cried a few times okay! I felt so proud of him. 

Alongside him was Beau whom he met at a gay club. Beau helped him navigate the “gay world”😂 and helped him understand it so he could make up with his brother 🥹. Sparks flew along the way and they fell in love -albeit backwards🤣. 
 Max’s growth was so profound and has proven that my love for Cora’s writing and her characters is insurmountable. 
Loved all the Sem and Maggie cameos (Gosh i love them so much💛) and I am beyond EXCITED for Coop and Matt (Me thinks that’s gonna be my favorite 🤣) Can’t wait for Coop’s shenanigans and Matt’s panicky tantrums😂

This book had me swooning and tearing up numerous times and I wasn’t even surprised by how much i loved it. Love how Cora’s characters give is the best kinds of feelings.

Except You is a great redemption story and i recommend 🩷
