Where did Will and Horace’s brain cells go?

—good luck reading this spoiler clusterfuck—
Seriously. Two books about creepy things happening in the forest that everyone’s terrified of and only at the end do they think:
hey, this would be a good distraction!
Or Horace being one of the best warriors in the entire country, putting his sword down and leaving it IN THE MIDDLE OF A SIEGE? And one moment that especially stuck with me: while trying to
scare the shit out of a group of enemies
, Will needed reminding that he
should PROBABLY pretend to be scared too
. I think in between books 3 and 4 he bumped his head real hard. And why was Will so mean to Horace the entire time? Also, Will doesn’t spend a single second with “the dog” the entire book long and then at the end
he turns into a whiny little bitch about it.

This is not even book criticism anymore. I am worried about Araluen. The book mentions multiple times that Will is one of the best rangers they have. Oh no! The deterioration of such a beautiful country! Someone bring Halt back.
