Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson

5.0

There's reason that everyone knows the names Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, such as how everyone knows the name Frankenstein and Dracula. Stepping into this book, I knew the basic outline of it, and I feel this prevents people from picking it up or why they claim to have read it simply because they know the basic outline or have seen the film. The book, albeit short, is brilliant and I would highly recommend picking it up. Don't settle with the outline, flesh it out, colour it in with the utter gloom that pervades through Stevenson's prose. Each sentence sweats out the Gothic and it exhales true horror, tackling man's inner savagery and dark desires.
