The Jackal by J.R. Ward
5.0
I have been reading the Black Dagger Brotherhood series for longer than I can remember. Every time I start one of these books I think to myself "This one can't be as good as the others" and I am wrong. This book is the first in another spin off series that isn't really about the BDB but still has some of the characters in it. And almost the entire book takes place INSIDE A PRISON! That part, right there, was the best part about it. Like, I really loved that part. lt was dark and gritty with the intense and sexy relationships we expect from @jrwardauthor.
Nyx breaks into a prison in search for her sister who she feels was wrongly imprisoned. Once inside she is discovered by The Jackal who decides to help her on her quest but, of course, things do not go to plan and their loins are set ablaze.
I know there is another book in this series (which I already have) and hope that will answer some of the things I feel were left hanging from this book, as I feel the author has a tendency to do; leave us wanting more.
