The Rom Con by Devon Daniels
4.0
I love when I rewatch a romcom and it leads me to reading a book inspired by it. The How to Lose a Guy in 10 days influence on this book was nothing short of amazing and the author did not shy away from the romcom references which I loved every second of it. This book was surprisingly really funny like I was laughing out loud within the first chapter. I think a lot of romance books claim to be romcoms but are the missing the ridiculousness factor that is necessary to the genre. This book had the perfect balance of hilarious hijinks paired with a romance that felt very genuine with chemistry that authors dream of writing. Cassidy and Jack immediately had my attention from their first meeting. So much chemistry and their banter was to die for like I loved every second of it. Cassidy using the 1950s handbook tips on him and Jack surprising her at how lovely he actually is was just perfection to watch. I think the only pitfall with this book was the third act breakup just felt a bit weird to me and even when they reconciled it felt undercooked. I wanted a bit more tension and little meat on the bones. I actually said out loud while reading this that this is going to be 5 stars, but there was just something missing in the last 100 or so pages of this book. This was a very fun read though and I had a blast.
