Slayer by Kiersten White
4.0
Out of ALL of the [a:Kiersten White|3027554|Kiersten White|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1254205920p2/3027554.jpg] books I've read, I think this is the second best (only next to [b:The Guinevere Deception|43568394|The Guinevere Deception (Camelot Rising, #1)|Kiersten White|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1551892183l/43568394._SY75_.jpg|67787916])!
I liked the world, the majority of the characters, and the plot. They all tied in nicely together and there were some plot twists I didn't see coming! It was interesting to see Nina's backstory as well and I really enjoyed her POV (for the most part). I liked White also included the Buffy story as a starting point. It made [b:Slayer|34723130|Slayer (Slayer, #1)|Kiersten White|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1528468297l/34723130._SY75_.jpg|55903822] a fun read!!
Things I didn't like:
- Most of the first third of the book was all worldbuilding and there was a LOT of info-dumping. Each time, it took me out of the story, so I struggled through the first part.
- Nina. She is supposed to be 16, but she acts like a 10 year old. Her reactions to things (such as when Eve asked her questions and she knew the answer to them, and she got all giddy) and the way she spoke seemed suited for a much younger age than she was supposed to be.
Nina was a bad*ss though. How I pictured her (except younger, of course):
