Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller
4.0
I had read The Crucible last year and was surprised how different this was. It is not a happy story and does not have a happy ending, but it is a realistic and critical view of the "American Dream" and getting older. I have not read a lot of plays, but I thought Death of a Salesman had some wonderful directions for lighting and music playing in the background, and having the characters stand in different rooms all on one stage. It really added to the story and symbolism and made me want to see the actual play. I don't know if I "liked" it is quite accurate, as it was very bleak and anxiety inducing, but Arthur Miller really succeeded in portraying the life of someone who has worked hard all his life and does not get rewarded for it.
