The narrative was oddly compelling, even though we all more or less know the story. I almost carried on. But in the end I opted to not waste time on something I didn't love. The author was a terrible narrator, which was the biggest reason  I also didn't love how the trans character was handled in the narrative voice (the other characters' responses all made sense). Purely personal preference.
