The front half of this book was a bit slow, and I was not convinced, but after the halfway point I got it.
I honesty felt quite unattached to Noemi, as she felt a bit flat to me, but she had guts and moves the story along well. She gave Mary-Sue vibes in the way of the author wanted to write a strong woman who was also "girly." I see why she did this, but did not fully enjoy the execution.
I would have loved even more backstory on the house and family at High Place, but overall it was a fun read once I got past all of the set-up. The twist of the house was definitely a cool one for me.
