I found this book really boring and predictable. I was zoning out while listening to it, found the suspension of disbelief really hard to manage (the fact that the scientists don't get any info until they're in the field just feels like a sloppy writing excuse for the author to wax poetic about the world he created since the characters are as in the dark as the reader), and after looking up the plot summary, the big conflict was easy to spot from the beginning. Got too many good books queued up to finish this one.
