Her Name Is Mercie by Chris Roy
3.0
couple of days ago I stumbled upon this book called “Her Name Is Mercie by Chris Roy“, and upon reading the synopsis decided to request for the ARC. Thankfully the publishers granted my request and sent me a e-copy in exchange of an honest review. The things I am going to say (rather write) about this book is solely my personal thoughts…
Her Name Is Mercie is quite a small book (roughly 170 pages) containing 5 stories. The 1st one is a crime fiction (called “Her Name is Mercie”) and is the largest (around 90-ish pages) of them all. Its a story about Mercie, how her world changed after her parents died in a supposedly accident. The story plot of this one was good, but I felt like there was unnecessary lengthy story of her prison time, if it was shorter, the story would have been more appealing. Also, in some places the dialogs made me quite confused (may be due to language barrier?). Other than that it was a good and cleaver one.
Re-Pete on the other hand is more of a horror, than crime fiction. And its my most favorite one. I enjoyed reading Pete’s background story and wanted to know more.. It was just enough of a small horror story that will make your insides twist with fear.
Hunger, Libbys Hand & Marsh Madness are the rest three stories of the book. Sadly they were just a bit of ok-ish read for me. After Re-Pete I was expecting something more like it :#
So overall rating for it is 3.5 for me 😀
Do give it a go if you like creeps, hope it will satisfy your needs 😉
