Shatter Me - The Six Book Collection by Tahereh Mafi
4.0
I had a bit of a love-hate relationship with this series after reading all the books, including the novellas. Aaron Warner was a standout character, and while Juliette’s character development felt stunted after a point, her journey was still intriguing. Most of the other characters felt somewhat average, but the story still managed to hold my interest enough to keep me reading the entire series in one go.
The writing style had its highs and lows, like a sine wave—some parts really resonated, while others fell flat. Monologues didn’t seem to be the strongest aspect of the series; Kenji’s, in particular, made him come across as less likable, though he was otherwise a decent character. Themes like war and torture started feeling a bit repetitive, and the romance leaned toward the cheesy side, but there was still enough there to keep me engaged. In hindsight, ending the story after book three might have made for a stronger conclusion, but I’m glad I saw it through to the end.
