Mbue's writing is simply gorgeous, and the storyline brings forth incredibly raw emotion. However, the slow plot, along with the frequent jumps in perspective, made it difficult to hold my attention. I'd like to revisit this book sometime in the future when I might be in a better mindset for a narrative with this structure.
