The Angel of Indian Lake by Stephen Graham Jones

challenging dark slow-paced

4.0

The day is finally here — the conclusion of The Lake Witch Trilogy is out in the world!

It’s Halloween and Proofrock just can’t seem to catch a break. Three teens go missing, another kid is assumed to have run away, a dad loses his head in the school pickup lane and another guy is found dead in his home. There’s a new haunt around the town: the Angel of Indian Lake. In a tattered white night gown and her long black hair, she walks the shore of the lake at night.

Jade finds herself involved in the chaos yet again. Because once the girl who cried slasher, always the girl who cried slasher, right Mr. Holmes?

Book 3 is just as violent and gory as it’s predecessors. SGK went all out with the slasher references. Again, I wish I had as much slasher knowledge as our final girls. If I did then I’m sure I would have enjoyed the ride more.

“She’s right. In the rock/paper/scissors of horror, chainsaw always wins.”

I was given an advanced copy for review, all thoughts are entirely my own. Thank you Saga Press and NetGalley for the opportunity.
