The Guncle by Steven Rowley
5.0
When I tell you I spent the last 100 pages of this book in various states of weepage...
You pick up a book with a pastel cover and a quote calling it hilarious and you're ready for a good time, but you're not totally ready for your heart to be ripped out of your chest and be pumped full of genuine human love and affection and HEALTHY FAMILY RELATIONSHIPS. At least, I didn't. Probably why I am so weepy.
I know this is being turned into a movie and you bet your ass every gay actor in Hollywood is lining up to play Patrick because with the sheer emotional versatility, humour and madness this character is one toe is enough to start campaigning for that Oscar NOW.
What a beautiful book.
