Dear Santa by Kristen Granata

5.0

This is my first book by this author. I've been meaning to read something by this author for the longest time and I'm glad I finally did. At the beginning of this book the author tells us that this book isn't meant to be taking seriously or read with a critical eye. She didn't utilize beta reader or an editor she just wanted to put something fun out for her readers and I think she succeeded.

As you can see from the synopsis above Christina hires an escort to take home to her mom for Christmas. She needed someone to pretend to be her boyfriend for the holidays because she couldn't deal with having to be alone for another year because her mom is never happy with anything she does apparently. Honestly, I just needed to read escort and I was sold. We all know that is going to lead to some drama/laughs.

When it comes to novellas, we all know they are hit or miss for me because a lot of the times there's not enough time to fully develop a story/the characters but that wasn't the case for this book. I never felt like I didn't get enough of a story. Of course I wanted more but that's because I loved it so much. This book was funny and sexy but there was more to it than that. It talks about depression and a suicide attempt but it doesn't go into a whole lot of detail with either of them. It's mostly a light hearted story full of hope.

I really enjoyed this short little novella, and I am looking forward to reading more by this author. If you're looking for a quick little holiday read this month, I definitely recommend giving this one a go.
