This novel was a great read! Its set in urban London, a row of homes and apartments that all share a communal outdoor area. The area consists of many private gardens, playgrounds, and everything in between.
The children can run free without parents having to worry about harm coming to them. Or can they?
Grace and her younger sister Pip are new to the area after their father had a schizophrenic break that ended in them having to leave the place they called home.
They quickly make friends with the other kids of the park.
Everything seemed to be going fine the night of the midsummer neighbourhood party. That is until Grace, a thirteen year old girl is found lying unconscious and bloody in the corner of the rose garden.
What happened to Grace, and who did this to her?
A police investigation ensues and dark secrets become revealed.
With many different characters, and many different secrets and histories coming into play, its hard to guess who did harm to Grace.
This was a fast paced read with lots of vivid details that help bring the whole picture together.
