The problem with reading this series back-to-back is that some of the plot points seem very familiar. Are all small town law enforcement members corrupt? Is it necessary for Chet and Bernie to get separated for an extended period in every book? Maybe this format, a mystery told through a dog's eyes, is too limited for a lot of different plot points?

In any case it is still a good mystery and very entertaining.
