As a stepmom I think the single dad trope will always hit me a little differently. It’s easier to put myself in the heroine’s shoes because I’ve been there. This one was so well written and I found myself relating to both Betsy and Wes.

Betsy moved to Rolling Hills to be closer to her best friend and get a fresh start. She finds an instant connection with Wes and his kids and Wes hires her to be his nanny. He was recently left by his wife and is playing in his last season in the NFL so his life has changed drastically in the last few months.

I loved Betsy’s relationship with each of Wes’ kids. She had a special bond with each of them and fiercely protected them as if they were her own kids. Both Betsy and Wes fight their attraction, and I’m glad they did because that allowed Wes to start a relationship with Betsy as a free man instead of a man who was technically still married. I loved the friendship they started and how easily they opened up to each other. They were very open and honest about their feelings and that made their bond even stronger.

This was a great fist book to this series. It introduced a whole new cast of characters that I can’t wait to learn more about. Wes’ childhood friend group is full of different personalities and I think each will bring something different to the series. I can’t wait for Oliver’s book next! The romantic elementary school teacher!!!
