Once Upon a Raven: A Ravenquill Anthology by Laura M. Drake
5.0
This is a fun and quirky collection of twisted fairytales. I loved the range in stories and the different tones, and the mix of sci-fi, action, drama and fantasy influences. There was a great mixture of light-hearted tales, humour and tragedy, with some heartbreaking endings and some happily ever afters.
My favourites were 'The Snow Queen, origins", which was a tragic tale of love and sacrifice, 'What the Grimms wouldn't publish', with clever and witty alternative endings for snow white and red rose, and Snow White, a heartwarming retelling with a creative twist.
✨ Jill and the beanstalk
✨ Gretyl
✨ Marigold and the Tower
✨ The snow queen, origins
✨ Pretty exhausted
✨ What the Grimms wouldn't publish
✨ Oakey
✨ Alice and the arachnid
✨ Clara from the moon - nutcracker
✨ The enchantress and the beast
✨ Snow white
