The Girls at the Kingfisher Club by Genevieve Valentine

dark mysterious sad tense slow-paced

3.0

The twelve dancing princesses is one of my favorite fairytales used for retellings and the 1920s dancing girls was an interesting setting for it. I became attached to the sisters and was pulled in by the setting. I did have pace issues with the beginning because it jumps around in time but isn’t super clear about the distinctions. And then again at the end the pace felt rushed with the character development so they could hit the plot conclusion. It made me enjoy it way less than I wanted to.
