Your wishes are mine to make true.”
“Prideful little Indigo.”
Wow. This was so beautifully written, this is the first historical romance I’ve read, and I was a bit hesitant, but i’m glad I read this. This was honestly such a touching love story between two people that are like night and day. The slow burn attraction and banter between Hester and Galen was so passionate and intense. It felt like as much as they butt heads deep down their feelings for one another attraction was hard to hide / stay away from one another. The nickname Galen gave her and turned it into an empowered nickname was beautiful, his patience and care concerning Hester was written in a way that showed he really loved her. He truly showed her every aspect of life / ways he loved her and never stopped trying to win her heart!
The history aspect to the story felt very real and provided more important themes (racism, slavery, classism, colorism. etc) to the story that pushed their love story along! Those moments were heart breaking to read but a necessary point that added more depth to the characters.
I really enjoyed the back and forth between Hester and Galen. Their relationship and how both characters helped others to freedom was astounding. & their true nature to help others.
