I inhaled this in a day! I've only read two of Tis Williams' books but she is quickly becoming a must read author. There is a sense of urgency in her books that sucks you in and keeps you coming back for more.

Here we follow two authors that share a past and find that the flame never died between them. But, in the present, with different lives, the book asks the question, "what if they just fit?"

Shane and Eva are the stars here, but I wish there was more book to read. I wanted to know more about Shane and Eva's past and their lives before the current setting of the story. We do get that information summarized, but selfishly, I enjoyed the budding romance so much, that I just wanted more.

It's a celebration of Black love, a testament to the enduring power of connection, and a reminder that healing is possible, even from the deepest wounds.

I suggest reading this before reading A Love Song for Ricki Wilde. I won't spoil why, but the Easter Egg makes a lot more sense if you read this first.

The book does cover sensitive topics such as mental health, chronic illness, addiction and abuse of varying forms.
