I so wish I could give this book more than five stars, this was by far my favourite of the series so far and with one book left I’m scared of what’s to come as this book delivered so much plot development and the character growth in this book was amazing, the twists and turns, the pain and the heartache, the angst and then the world building which continues to blow my mind. I am always so in awe of how Melissa writes such an immersive story that keeps delivering she is literally a genius and I love her books so much.
The pacing and each PoV were so good there were no dull moments everything moved and developed perfectly.
Each and every character is morally grey, with rawness and vulnerability in their own way. At the end of book two we saw Tessa start to stand up for herself and in ToWaV she became so much stronger with all the feminine rage that she rightly deserves to feel yet at the same time still carries that vulnerable side that still makes her one of the most relatable fmcs ever.
Both MMCs in this book are tortured souls, I loved seeing more of Luka and how he doesn’t give in to Tessa like Theon usually does, he expects her to ask for what she wants, to choose and to support her and at times know what she wants or needs before she does. The fact we got to see so much more of his character in this book makes me so happy and he didn’t disappoint.
Now as for Theon, he may not be everyone’s favourite and through the first two books I can understand why he is as morally grey as possible but in ToWaV he probably had the most character growth to get more of his backstory and to see him slowly learn, love and understand that certain things weren’t as they seemed. Theon loves Tessa in his own way and to see his yearning and pining for her in this book made me so emotional..the way Melissa writes her characters has always been one of my favourite things and this book just shows that so much more.
The ending broke me in a way that makes me scared for what’s to come in book four so be prepared that this will end on a cliffhanger. As always please remember that this is a dark fantasy romance so please do check your trigger warnings before starting this series.
