Atwater levels up her writing for this very spooky and occasionally downright creepy novel. For such a Gothic atmosphere, it is appropriate that she moves the story to a Victorian setting. This can be read as a standalone, but readers of her previous Regency Faerie Tales novels will find extra details to enjoy.
