Okay so yeah, this audiobook has me wondering where exactly my dover editions box set of Jane Austen books are (which, come to think of it, doesn't make sense because my intent for the rest of her books (which I just decided about 12hrs ago that I would be reading [listening] to all this year) is to find the best narrator and listen to via audio)))).

(genuinely not sure how many closing parentheses I needed there so I just went for it)...)

First things first, I love both the mini-series and film adaptations. For the sake of time, I will say that I watch the 2005 movie more than any other adaptation.

Second things second, the Rosamund Pike (audible exclusive, I think 😮‍💨) version of this book is FREAKING FANTASTIC. She also does Sense & Sensibility and I will be starting that posthaste.

Third things third, here's a run down of my feelings of film vs movie:

→ Getting into the inner workings of all the character's minds enhanced pretty much everybody's storyline and character arc immensely (especially Darcy, as you see him take a shine to Elizabeth in ways that aren't shown in the adaptation).

→ They call her Eliza a bunch in the book, and for longer than I care to admit I was trying to figure out who the heck Eliza was. She is LIZZIE, okay?

→ I genuinely DID NOT put together, not even once, that with her marriage to Mr. Collins, Elizabeth's BFF Charlotte Lucas would take over Longbourne house as mistress once Mr. Bennett died. Not even ONCE while watching did I put this together.

→ Not saying it was a bad thing necessarily, but Lizzie Bennett in the book has way more bite and character arc than in the movie. She was super judgmental at times and I wasn't prepared for it.

→ The ending of the story and culmination of Lizzie + Darcy was done WAY BETTER in the book. Having them talk through the ups and downs of their relationship and reasons for each of their thoughts and beliefs really sold that.

And with that, I have officially finished book 1 in my personal challenge to listen to minimum 12 classics on audio this year - YAY.

Do you have any personal bookish challenges you've set for yourself this year?
