This book is about a sorceress, Ralvania, who spends her days helping others. Using her knowledge of all kinds of creatures, she uses spells to cure sicknesses, solve mysteries, and put an end to battles. She also has a dragon, so her life seems pretty amazing. The dragon, Soranto, is intelligent and speaks, although he's a bit grumpy, especially if he has his nap interrupted. I enjoyed the relationship between Ralvania and Soranto as they embarked on long journies. I would have enjoyed more depth into what makes each character unique; much of the book was simple dialogue that didn't set them apart by much. Ralvania was the most memorable, due to her addiction to pixie brew (like coffee) and her kindhearted yet sometimes aloof nature.
