Uncomfortable Conversations With a Black Man by Emmanuel Acho
5.0
I had this audiobook on hold for months, and I’m so glad I finally got to read it!
In Uncomfortable Conversations With a Black Man, Emmanuel Acho answers questions that many white Americans have but are afraid to ask. And in answering these questions, Acho provides a platform to learn and have discussions on many important topics, including racism, white privilege, voter suppression, “reverse racism”, and cultural appropriation. This book is perfect for people who are new to these topics and have just started to dig deeper.
I loved the structure of the book; each chapter started with a question and then Acho responded to the question throughout the chapter. Acho discussed various books, experts, websites, and other resources to help readers find information and get started on their anti-racist journeys.
I think this is such an important book, and I think it’s something everyone should read!
CW: discussions of racism, police brutality, bias
