The Island by Olivia Levez
5.0
The psychology behind Fran's character is so. good. I worked with inner city kids for several years, and Fran's reactions to things as basic as emotion - or compliments - is so realistic that my heart ached at her (and hated her) at the same time.
Any character in this story is so unbelievably flawed and unlikable that I just fell in love with Levez's writing. Cheesily perfect characters are my biggest pet peeve... and Fran is precious... and so hateable. I love it.
The end, though. It killed me.
