Something about Emily Henrys writing really works for me.
Normally I have a hard time with romcoms because all of the tropes bother me.
High on my list of “ugh” is enemies to lovers (because it’s just obvious and I like being surprised), topped only by miscommunication (I am oversharer who can’t keep her mouth shut so I just don’t get it).
But this one worked. It almost makes fun of how on the nose it is, but in a fun way that still takes itself seriously. The writing and story telling is so gripping, I couldn’t put this one down!
