No Longer Human by Junji Ito

5.0

Junji Ito’s adaptation of Osaka Dazai’s classic postwar novel is an enormous tome, and its challenging at times. The self-flaggelating story of an admitted and repeated asshole can be infuriating, but Ito’s surreal horror touches keep it engaging. Just when it threatens to fall apart, the book wraps up with a shock. Unforgettable!
