The Snowman by Jo Nesbø
5.0
I first read this when it was translated into English in 2011, and we read it again for book club this year. I made the interesting choice to listen to it on audio while I drove to and from North Carolina. I'm not a big audiobook listener, and if I had to give it a rating based on listening to this guy butcher Norwegian names and do weird creepy high pitched voices for female characters (plus going into the second reading knowing who the murderer is already), I would probably only give it 3 stars. Still, from my first reading I remember staying up all night unable to sleep until the murderer was caught, as red herring after red herring are thrown into Harry's path. And my first introduction to Harry, who I've now gone back and forth in time with (thanks to the strange translation schedule of the series), perhaps one of the best characters ever written in crime fiction - I still remember my initial fascination with his strange, gruff, insightful, broken, realistic character. This has definitely got me looking forward to [b:The Thirst|32775291|The Thirst (Harry Hole #11)|Jo Nesbø|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1477460802s/32775291.jpg|48764553].
