Zechariah and His Visions: An Exegetical Study of Zechariah's Vision Report by Lena-Sofia Tiemeyer

4.0

Much of this book is a detailed exegetical study of the eight vision accounts found in Zechariah 1–6. Tiemeyer begins with the assumption that potentially these visions accounts are based on Zechariah’s actual visionary experience, rather than simply a literary creation. I especially enjoyed her opening chapters, where she touches on the polyvalence of vision reports, examines the role of dreams and visions in the Hebrew Bible and other ancient Near Eastern texts, and addresses the relationship between visions and culture. All in all, I would give this book 3.5 stars, but have rounded up to 4 stars due to the inherent limitations of the goodreads rating system (fix it, @goodreads—we want .5 star options).
