The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune

fun fact: if you google the words "pure happiness" you get this book as the first result.
“It’s the little things. Little treasures we find without knowing their origin. And they come when we least expect them. It’s beautiful, when you think about it. He loves it dearly. That was very kind of you.”

Put whatever you are reading down, and pick up this book. I swear to you, you won't regret it. THIS ladies and gentlemen is The book of the year. I can't believe it took me so long to pick this up, despite the raving reviews it has.
The House in the Cerulean Sea is a shot of serotonin encased in a story. Reading this made me feel so warm and lovely. It's like a delicious cup of hot chocolate on a rainy day or the moistest, softest, sweetest cinnamon roll ever. Fans of Lemony Snicket, Terry Pratchet, and Neil Gaiman will definitely love this. For sure, this book will be getting a top place on my favorites shelf.
The characters are all wonderful, I loved every single one of them. Each one of them is well developed and fleshed out; the main character; however, goes through the most tremendous amount of development, and it is a delight to read. All six of the children were adorable, i literally wanted to give every single one of them a big hug. The plot is rife with such complex and relevant themes that are handled beautifully.
“I don’t pretend to know the minds of men. They fear what they don’t understand. And that fear turns to hate for reasons I’m sure even they can’t begin to comprehend."

The setting is absolutely gorgeous and gives you a homely and comforting feeling. The romance is the most delicious slow-burn I have ever read, and the characters are oozing chemistry.
"But that was the funny thing about wishes. Sometimes all it took to make them come true was a first step."

I always have the hardest time writing reviews for books I really really love, and so this is gonna be short. Just leave everything and read this book. It will clear your skin, heal your depression, and leave you with the biggest smile on your face. Definitely worth it!
