Dora Bruder by Patrick Modiano

challenging dark emotional informative reflective sad slow-paced

3.75

I dislike how he seems to use Dora to explore largely his daddy issues, as well as make general sense of his childhood and all the places he passed through. Gives manic pixie dream girl situation where more of the details are provided as interpretations from the man. But he no doubt put in the work to discover as much as he could about Dora and those who she interacted with. The ways he dug through the layers was interesting, and he pointed out valuable ideas about how change can leave you feeling empty.
