This was slower than I normally go for, but I ended up really loving it and wanting to reread Our Town. I don’t think I gave it enough thought the first time around with the way this describes it. I have a tendency to think back on my early 20s and how it led to my life today a lot, so Laura reflecting with her daughters about her formative summer at Tom Lake also really resonated with me, and it was just a lovely portrayal of mother/daughter relationships in general. The fact that it’s narrated by Meryl Streep was just the cherry on top. She had the perfect tone that felt relaxing and motherly and just right for Laura
