“I know we’re basically just a series of texts. But I’m glad that whatever led you to me happened. I’m grateful that you’re my emergency contact.”

my fucking heart!!!!!! i’m head over heels for this book. it’s so modern and casual and adorable and real. i loved everything about it because i felt like i was hearing the story from a friend. i’m so overwhelmed with the writing style and amazing details that made this story so tangible and realistic.

i was a little lost at the beginning when i was first introduced to the inception of anecdotes that Mary Choi had put in the middle of an anecdote, but i was quick to be grateful for them. the two main characters were so interesting, and i really didn’t have it in me to put this down for long. i was always grabbed by my balls because everything was so enticing.

at the beginning i was a little bummed from the cynicism of penny and the author herself, but then it was just how penny is and i loved that. sam was ADORABLE. i saw different people in these characters and they felt just as close as the real ones. the fact that this is the first novel for Mary is incredible!!! she really came up with a magnificent idea and how it sailed through was an impeccable journey that i was glad to be a part of! this is definitely a new favorite book, and i highly recommend it to ANYONE.
