This novella is considered #1.5 in this series, after The Cruel Prince. It’s an interesting take, to include a short interlude between major works. And it’s told from a different perspective than the first book. Here, we get the sister’s point of view. It’s so short that there’s not a ton to unpack here, but I like how this book and the series reminds us of the dark side of fairy tales. We have this notion of a “fairy tale love,” but real fairy tales are full of death, violence, and gore. The princess doesn’t always get her prince, and if she does, there are often dark consequences. Can’t wait to dive into the next book soon!
